DOC Summer Intern I – 2026

We are a self-performing general contractor specializing in municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, offering a Summer 2026 Internship for students interested in heavy civil and public works construction. This internship is designed to provide hands-on, real-world exposure to how complex infrastructure is built—from the field up—while supporting active projects such as treatment plants, pump stations, force mains, and underground utilities. Interns will work directly with project managers, superintendents, and self-perform crews, gaining meaningful responsibility and a clear understanding of municipal construction operations.


Intern Responsibilities Include:
– Assisting with quantity tracking, daily reports, and production data
Reviewing construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings
Supporting submittals, RFIs, pay applications, and project closeout tasks
– Coordinating materials, equipment, and deliveries to job sites
Spending time in the field observing and assisting with excavation, pipe installation, concrete placement, and mechanical work
Participating in job meetings, safety briefings, and project planning sessions
– Learning how safety, quality control, scheduling, and cost management are applied on active municipal projects


Requirements:
– Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, or other related fields
– Strong interest in heavy civil and water/wastewater construction
Willingness to work in both field and office environments
– Ability to read or learn to interpret construction plans and specifications
– Strong work ethic, reliability, and eagerness to learn
– Good communication and organizational skills


**Prior internship or construction experience is a plus, but not required
